Surprisingly few resources currently exist to easily familiarize non-sports-minded women to the world of sports. Without one, many working women will continue to miss out simply because they remain clueless about how to use sports information to open doors and close new business deals, retain current customers and expand on existing business, earn and maintain respect among colleagues or simply relate to or impress the boss.
For example, earlier this year BBC reporter Katty Kay wrote about the prevalence of sports talk used by White House staff. She wrote, "I can talk politics with the best of them. I can even make reasonable sense of toxic mortgage assets. Give me Paris, Moscow, or Tokyo and I can usually muster an intelligent observation. But when the talk turns to innings, dunks and touchdowns, sorry, I’ve nothing remotely sensible to add."
Non-sports fan women (and men, too!) need not fall silent any more! Here you can find current sports headlines you'll need to know to break the ice with sports fans you encounter every day along with tips and lively discussion on communicating in the language of sports.
How often are sports the topic of conversation where you work? We'd love to hear and share your stories.
